Pawleys Island Luxury Homes

Pawleys Island, SC

2890 Vanderbilt Blvd. - Vintage Estates

Polished to perfection, it invites you to spend lazy days by the sea, watching the waves roll in to the shore.

The home was the vision of its current owners, Barry and Bobbie Stump, who enjoy building and designing homes. According to their son, Brady Stump, it took a little while to find the perfect lot.

"We spent four or five months looking for the perfect homesite for my parents to retire to," said Brady, a principal in Vintage Estates, an exclusive affiliate of Christie's Great Estates. "The property has amazing views of the ocean."

Nestled into a secluded part of Prince George, a 1,900-acre gated community, this elegant home sits on nearly two acres of land. A small road leads to the house, and the neighboring homes are far enough away to ensure privacy.

"There's a little beach, and one house is just beyond that, and, on the other side, the next house is 200 or 300 yards away," Brady said.

The house itself is spectacular. It features a reverse floor plan to take advantage of the incredible views of the marsh and the ocean beyond. The great room and dining room have 12-foot ceilings.

"The common areas are all open," Bobbie said, explaining that the natural flow from room to room make it a great house for entertaining guests. "And there is a huge sunroom with 14-foot ceilings."descr - exterior photo of 2890 Vanderbilt Blvdd. - Great Estates - Pawleys Island - SC

In addition to the large gourmet kitchen and breakfast room, the home includes five spacious bedrooms and five-and-a-half baths. But even though the house is large and open and offers every amenity, everyone always comes back to the panoramic views offered from every room. Bobbie said the high-impact Anderson windows and doors bring the outside in.

"Because of the windows, we have panoramic views of the marsh and ocean from every room. It's really about what God did outside," she said. "We have beautiful birds here and deer walking on the lawn. We watch so much of nature."

The inside is very calming and coastal in style. Bobbie, who loves to decorate, chose shades of light blue and cream, accented by pops of color such as cobalt blue and reds.

"You just get a good feeling," Bobbie said. The house also has views of nearby Canvasback Lake, where William Churchill and Bernard Baruch took Franklin D. Roosevelt fishing and, perhaps, to talk about world affairs.

But the real wow factor remains the view. Brady said that one guest put it very succinctly:

"This house is really kind of an exclamation point for the Lowcountry."
